British American Tobacco and Reynolds American are merging joints in one of the biggest tobacco companies in the world
British American Tobacco and Reynolds American closed a deal of 49.4 billion dollars. The two companies merged into the biggest tobacco company in the world.
British American Tobacco owned 42% of Reynolds and agreed to pay $29.44 for each Reynolds share .
Nicadro Durante, Chief Executive at British American Tobacco declared about the merge: " It will create a stringer, global tobacco and next generation products business with direct access for our products across the most attractive markets in the world".
The merge made investors think about other possible takeovers, for example Philip Morris International merging with Japan Tobacco.
The companies are merging joints because people are quiting smoking.
British American Tobacco can now re-enter the market in America, after 12 years of absence. The merge is also the first in the market as being the single company that will have a powerful presence in America and other markets, worldwide.
