Asian - August 17th: Asian. The Australia ASX All Ordinaries going down 0.37% to 5,607.27, while the HANG SENG INDEX going up 0.98% to 23.023.16 and the NIKKEI 225 INDEX going down 1.55% to close at 16.486.01.
NIKKEI 225 INDEX
- The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 Index were SUMCO is up 3.55% to trade at 817.0 at the close. DOWA Holdings added 4.64% to end at 677.0 and Shinsei was up 3.61% to 158.0 in late trade.
- The worst performers of the session were Sharp which fell 6.32% to trade at 133.5 at the close. Olympus fell 5.74% to end at 3,200.0 and Softbank Corp. was down 4.56% to 6,451.1
Hong Kong Hang Seng Index
- The top performers on the Hong Kong Hang Seng Index were Tencent Holdings which rose 5.17% to 202.50, China Unicorn which was up 7.77% to settle at 9.02 and New World which close 3.24% to close at 9.75
- The worst performers were Belle which was down 5.19% to 5.30 in late trade, Cathay which lost 4.87% to settle at 11.33 and China Shenhua which was down 3.56% to 14.340 at the close.
Australia ASX All Ordinaries
- The top performers on the ASX were Webjet which rose 20.50% to 9.700, iCar which was up 17.14% to settle at 0.410 and Macmohan which gained 14.29% to close at 0.140
- The worst performers were Energy World Corp which was down 9.09% to 0.300 in late trade, Mesoblast which lost 7.14% to settle at 0.585 and Coll which was down 6.79% to 1.305 at the close.
Commodities NYMEX
- Gold Futures was down 0.49%, to trade at $1,355.35 a troy ounce.
- The Silver futures for May delivery was down 0.86% to trade at $19.782 an ounce.
- Also on the NYMEX the WTI crude oil for August down 1.03% to hit $47.70 a barrel.
- Natural Gas on the same market for May closed at $2.633 per million British thermal units,to close at 0.46%.
Forex
- EUR/USD was up 0.24% to close at 1.1317, while USD/JPY was up 0.45 to close at 100.22.
- The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% to close at 94.41.
